I live in Colombia. South America.
And every 30 days, I get on a plane and fly to Lynchburg, Virginia. Not for vacation. Not to visit family. I fly there for one reason: to groom my fur babies.
Yes, I call them that. After years of grooming the same dogs, month after month, they're not "clients." They're family. I know their quirks, their favorite treats, the spot behind their ears that makes their leg kick. I know which ones get nervous during nail trims and which ones fall asleep during the blow dry.
That's the kind of groomer I am. And honestly? It's not for everyone.
People ask me all the time: "Why don't you just groom locally? Why fly thousands of miles every month?"
Because these dogs β and their owners β trust me. We've built something over years. The dogs know me. They're calm with me. They don't have to start over with a new groomer who doesn't know their history, their anxieties, their coat patterns.
And their owners don't have to worry. They know exactly what they're getting. They know I'll take my time. They know their dog will come back happy, not traumatized.
That relationship is worth the plane ticket.
I don't try to be everything to everyone. I specialize in anxious dogs, doodles, and dogs who need patience. I take one dog at a time. I never rush. I never cage. And I work with a small group of loyal clients who book with me month after month, year after year.
This isn't a business model that scales. That's the point.
I'm going to be honest β because I'd rather be upfront than waste your time.
I'm not saying any of those things are wrong. Some people genuinely need a convenient, quick, affordable groom β and that's fine. There are great groomers who serve that need. I'm just not one of them.
They're looking for their dog's person.
Someone who remembers that Bella doesn't like her paws touched until she's had a few minutes to settle in. Someone who knows that Max needs to sniff around the yard before he'll calm down. Someone who texts them a photo mid-groom because they know how much they miss their pup.
That's what I offer. Not a grooming "service." A relationship.
And yeah, it means flying 2,500 miles every month. It means limited availability. It means I'll never be the highest-volume groomer in Lynchburg.
But the dogs in my chair are happy. Their owners are happy. And I get to do work that actually matters to me.
That's worth more than scaling up ever could be.
If what I've described sounds like what you're looking for, reach out. Tell me about your dog. I'll be honest about whether I think we're a match.
And if we're not? No hard feelings. I'll point you toward other great groomers in the area. The goal is your dog getting great care β whether that's from me or someone else.
Give your pup the grooming experience they deserve.
